About

Daniel Cornell is the CEO and a Board Member of Legacy Tow Group, where he applies more than two decades of investment banking, private equity, transaction, and executive leadership experience to the towing industry. His professional background has centered on acquisitions, capital markets, strategic advisory work, organizational growth, and working with both private equity-backed and independently owned companies.

Cornell graduated from the College of William & Mary with a B.B.A. in Finance. He subsequently built a 25-year career in investment banking, holding senior positions at organizations including Truist Securities, SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, and Jefferies. At Truist Securities, he led Industrials and Services Investment Banking and worked across markets including transportation and logistics, automotive, business services, industrial services, government services, and waste and environmental services.

Throughout his investment banking career, Cornell executed more than 100 capital-raising transactions and 125 merger and acquisition transactions for publicly traded companies, private equity portfolio companies, and privately held businesses. Under his leadership at Truist, his team tripled capital markets revenue over a three-year period while supporting a lending portfolio exceeding $30 billion in aggregate commitments.

His extensive transaction experience now provides a foundation for his leadership at Legacy Tow Group. As CEO, Cornell brings an investor’s understanding of acquisitions together with experience developing businesses, evaluating opportunities, and building organizations for sustainable growth.

Cornell has received professional recognition from the Association for Corporate Growth, including being named Investment Banker and Capital Provider of the Year. Mentorship and charitable giving are also important areas of focus. He has supported the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, which assists families of fallen military service members, as well as marine conservation initiatives in South Carolina.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Cornell enjoys offshore fishing, boating, golf, and staying active. His career continues to combine investment expertise, strategic leadership, acquisitions, and an interest in developing businesses and people.
